Videoguard Features List

  • Internal VG User Database.  Allow WMS to use internal VG user database for simple site setup, no need to use external database, such as MySQL, MSSQL.  
  • Configurable DB connection Pool cache time. The DB connection pool cache time is configurable to accommodate your ISP's DB conection timeout setting.
  • Support MD5 Ticket Access. It works the same way as the TokenID Access. It supports the MD5() in PHP scripting language. 
  • Support URL Callback Checking. This feature allows you to validate the streaming request by calling a specific URL to match the returned keyword.
  • Support Referer URL . This feature allows you to set up referrer URL checking to authorize the legiminate web sites to embed your valuable contents.

  • Support Windows Media 9 Series .  This version allows you to use the latest Windows Media Technology (WMT 9 Series) .  
  • Component APIs.  This feature allows you to programmingly control VideoGuard plug-ins.
  • Snap-In Admin Interface. This feature allows you to configure VideoGuard  plug-ins through Windows interface.
  • Improve the performance of updating PPM values in database and Windows Media Server during streaming.  This improvement allows you to have higher numbers  of connections than Version 2.0 while  updating PPM values to database or Windows Media Server.  Max. number depends on server hardware, load and bandwidth. Testing statistics upon request.
  • Validate users using TokenID without checking against database.  This feature allows you to authenticate a streaming request with an encrypted TokenID generated in an ASP/PHP page by calling a method of VideoGuard  COM object.  The Token ID is encrypted with User IP address,  a time stamp and  its  expiration time using an internal random key and an external key specified by you.  This validation method doesn't require any database installed.
  • Multiple configurations for PublishPoint . Each PublishPoint can have its own configuration.
  • Update viewing seconds from WMS to database while playing video. A lot things can happen in a 3 hours video, such as power failure or network is done. This feature allows VideoGuard to update user's play time to database every N seconds to prevent viewing seconds lost.  Max. number depends on server hardware, load and bandwidth.
  • Update available viewing seconds from database to WMS while playing video. This feature allows user to buy more viewing seconds without getting disconnected while watching a video.  Max. number depends on server hardware, load and bandwidth.
  • Free access setting. This feature allows you to specify a string to match the URL for free access.
  • Automatically update configurations. This feature allows new configuration to take effect immediately without restarting WMS.
  • Run program or script before or after Authentication, Authorization and Report SQL command.
  • Limit concurrent connections to the same account.
  • Check concurrent logins by individual machine, not by user IP address. Users behind Proxy server can login in different accounts.
  • Options to run a SQL command, program/script or send notification to account owner when concurrent login reaches the limit. For example, the account can be disabled using a SQL command.
  • Database Connection Attack Program (CAP): prevent users from sending authorization requests to bring down the the database server.

  • Limited Concurrent Logins: Multiple persons using the same username and password are detected and prevented from login at the same time. This prevents illicit users from posting their usernames and password on the web.
  • Dictionary Attack Protection (DAP): Protects the login form from subversive dictionary attack programs. Dictionary attack programs run through a list of dictionary words, attempting to find a username and password combination that works.
  • Limited contents by IP address in a given time. Blocking the IP address of web spider to prevent them from crawling the whole site and stealing media files.
